Antigua – Start on February 20^th, 2023

The first event of the Swan Maxi Series will be in the crystalline waters of the Caribbean.
Among the 6 Swan yachts registered for the start of the race, ClubSwan 50 Balthasar is ready to compete in this iconic event.

Mr. Louis Balcaen, could you please describe your feelings about participating in the Caribbean for the first time on board your Balthasar? (Is this your first time as an owner?)

We are thrilled to participate in this prestigious event. It is the first time that we have brought the boat to the Caribbean and we have already had a fantastic week of daysailing and cruising over the Christmas holidays. Sailing in larger waves and trade winds has been a great experience.
When it comes to racing in a rating offshore event after years of participating in One Design races, we have high expectations. Last year’s One Design racing level was intense, so we learned a lot and made substantial improvements in our upwind/downwind sailing speed. However, there will be more reaching in the RORC Caribbean 600 and we are curious about how our boat will perform compared to other 50-footers. Our main goal is to have fun, sail fast, and if we happen to finish on the podium, it would be an added bonus.
