ClubSwan 28 Delivers Spectacular Racing at the 172nd New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta

The momentum of the ClubSwan 28 class continues to grow in North America, with another successful event completed at the prestigious 172nd New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta in Newport, Rhode Island.

Seven ClubSwan 28s joined a fleet of more than 160 yachts competing in one of the most historic and respected sailing events in the world. Over three days of racing and five inshore races, competitors experienced a wide range of conditions, from light and unstable winds on the opening day to stronger breezes and tactical racing throughout the weekend.

Congratulations to My Sharona, owned and helmed by George Gamble, for securing overall victory. Freya, owned by Jay Cross, finished second overall and claimed first place in the iconic Around-the-Island Race, while HOSS 28, owned by Darden & Guerrero, completed the overall podium.

Reflecting on the event, George Gamble commented:

“The boat is easy to sail, and the class is fantastic. We work together to find the best tuning solutions and openly exchange information. It is a highly competitive fleet, but also a very collaborative one.”

Beyond the racing, the Swan community enjoyed a memorable week both on and off the water. The Swan 58 Remedy served as a gathering point for owners and guests throughout the event, while the Swan Sunset Drinks held on June 11 celebrated Midsummer in Newport in true ClubSwan spirit. Several other Swan yachts also competed successfully, including the Swan 42 Impetuous, which secured third place in ORC Class C.

One year after the debut of the ClubSwan 28 in Newport, Swan continues to strengthen its presence in the Americas, thanks to a dedicated commercial team and, above all, the commitment and enthusiasm of owners, crews, and partners.

As Federico Michetti, Southern Europe Commercial Director and ClubSwan Strategic Advisor, highlighted, the unique combination of competition, friendship, passion, and shared experiences remains at the heart of what makes the ClubSwan community so distinctive around the world.

The week concluded with the traditional Annual Regatta Prize Giving and Owners’ Dinner, bringing together more than 300 sailors and guests and reinforcing the strong sense of camaraderie that characterizes our events.

Looking ahead, the fleet is preparing for an exciting second half of the season. The championship will culminate with the ClubSwan 28 Gold Cup in Fort Lauderdale this October and November, where the American fleet will be joined by competitors from the Mediterranean circuit. With an anticipated fleet of eighteen boats on the starting line, the event is set to become the largest gathering of ClubSwan 28s ever held.

We look forward to seeing many of you on the racecourse in the coming months.
