The Nautor’s Swan Experience: An Exceptional Event

In spite of the restrictions imposed by the ongoing global pandemic, the team at Nautor’s Swan is offering to bring some relief for Swan owners and their crew, along with fans and aficionados of the famous brand. From 13 to 20 October, the Nautor’s Swan Experience is scheduled to be held at the impressive Marina di Scarlino in Baia Scarlino on the Tuscan seaboard, host to the recent Swan Tuscany Challenge, which was received with great enthusiasm by participating owners. Comprising two overlapping events, the inaugural Swan One Design Worlds and the Swan Private Boat Show, this unique occasion will offer a 360º insight into the world of Swan.

Nautor’s Swan has more than half a century of experience building sailing yachts. Recognised the world over for the perfect combination of style, quality, power and reliability, exceptional sailing performance defines all Swans. While more traditional designs retain the familiar elements of cruising comfort along with an ability to compete when required, ClubSwan designs are distinct in their role and direction with the specific objective of leading the development of high performance yachts based upon cutting-edge design principles. Both design strands will be showcased at the Nautor’s Swan Experience. The Swan One Design Worlds featuring ClubSwan 50s, ClubSwan 36s, ClubSwan 42s and Swan 45s will take place from 13 to 17 October, while the Private Boat Show, from 16 to 20 October, will exhibit examples from the Swan range, including: Swan 98, Swan 78, Swan 65, Swan 54 and Swan 48 models.

“We have long wanted to present the Nautor Group at 360° and the Nautor’s Swan Experience concept has been on our table for many months. The current situation, with the cancellation of nautical events all over the world, has speeded things up, but we are ready,” explains Giovanni Pomati, Nautor Group CEO.

“It will be wonderful to bring together the new yachts in the Swan Line, especially those built for crossing the seven seas and exploring the world in its remote spots; our Charter Service for those simply passionate about the brand or looking to experience before committing; the Brokerage team which meets our customers’ needs to sell their boats; and Global Service, the real guardian angels available 24/7, 365 days per year. Combining all this at Marina di Scarlino, located in the beautiful Tuscan Archipelago, with one of our special racing events for those ready to show their competitive and racing soul, confirms Nautor’s Swan is a brand walking hand in hand with its owners, making them feel part of an amazing and international family.

The intention is to offer as complete an experience as possible, while fully respecting both regional and national regulations regarding COVID-19. Social distancing, compulsory mask wearing in public spaces, together with the need for staff and crews to be tested ahead of the event, are just some of the measures being put in place. Yachts appearing in the Private Boat Show will be subjected to comprehensive cleaning processes between visits. Measures will be updated to meet relevant regulations and guidance in place at the time of the event.

Racing at the Swan One Design Worlds will be over four days, finishing on Saturday, 17 October. The four fleets are well represented, and expectations are high for an exceptional contest on the water. Some 15 ClubSwan 50s will provide the headline act. Two former world champions are present, Dmitry Rybolovlev’ Skorpios (RUS/2019) and Stefan Heidenreich’s Onegroup (GER/2018), along with a host of other highly competitive rivals, including Ross Warburton’s Perhonen (GBR) and Sonke Meier-Sawatzki’s Niramo (GER) respectively second and third at the 2019 ClubSwan 50 Worlds. Representing nine nations, all entrants will be keen to stamp their authority on a seriously curtailed season. Eight ClubSwan 36s are currently slated to be on the start-line, including ThirtySix, winners of the first regatta to feature the nascent class a year ago in October. In the Swan 45 class, Lennard van Oeveren and Motions (NED), together with Tea Ekengren-Sauren and Blue Nights (FIN) will be looking to improve on their second and third places at the Swan 45 Worlds last year. Seven entries are expected. And, finally, five ClubSwan 42s will compete in what looks the most open of divisions. Natalia, victors at the The Nations League 2019 may hold the edge.

Swan regattas are renowned for the combination of gentlemanly competition on the water and convivial gatherings ashore. It is hoped that social distancing rules and guidance in place at the time of the Nautor’s Swan Experience will allow the planned shoreside programme of Opening Ceremony, Owners’ Dinner, Prize giving and End of Season Party to go ahead and complete the picture.

While the Swan One Designs Worlds will showcase the high-octane element of Swan ownership, the Private Boat Show is intended to shine a light on the other strings to the Finnish yards considerably potent bow. Along with the impressive roster of yachts on display and available for test-sailing, the Nautor’s Swan world in its entirety will be available to experience. The Brokerage, Charter and Global Service arms of Nautor’s Swan will be on hand to guide existing and prospective owners through the full range of possibilities as well as demonstrate the unparalleled resources and expertise available.

The Nautor’s Swan Experience is supported by a select group of partners enthusiastic to be part of this exceptional event and to contribute to the enjoyment of those attending. They include: Aon,  Automobili LamborghiniBanor, Bottega Conticelli, Disaronno, Ferrari Trento, Garmin, Marevivo, Michela Nicoli, North Sails, Quantum Sails, Rigoni di AsiagoSease, Slow Food and UYN.

With all that is on offer, the Nautor’s Swan Experience promises to be an extra special occasion, especially against the backdrop of these difficult times.
