Pietarsaari, Finland April 29th – Nautor Swan marks its highly-anticipated return to the 22-metre sailing segment with Swan 73, a yacht embodying the brand’s enduring heritage while introducing a new dimension of contemporary luxury and performance.
Positioned just below the maxi yacht segment, the Swan 73 delivers comparable levels of comfort while offering superior ease of handling and versatility. Built at Nautor Swan’s historic Boatbuilding Technology Centre (BTC) in Pietarsaari, Finland —home to both the Swan and Maxi Swan ranges—the yacht reflects the shipyard’s uncompromising standards of craftsmanship and engineering excellence.
The project is further enhanced by the expertise and product strategy of Nautor Swan’s New Product Development division, established as a key pillar of Sanlorenzo’s future growth strategy for the iconic brand.
Designed for owners who refuse to choose between worlds, the Swan 73 seamlessly blends the soul of a racer with the spirit of a cruiser. One day it offers the serenity of a secluded anchorage, expansive deck spaces, and light-filled interiors; the next, the exhilaration of performance sailing, precision trimming, and high speed. It is a yacht that adapts effortlessly to its owner’s desires, whether defined by silence or adrenaline.
Concept & Design
Designed by Germán Frers, the Swan 73 continues more than four decades of collaboration with Nautor Swan, refining a philosophy where timeless design meets advanced performance.
The hull is built in vinylester-infused fiberglass laminate with sandwich structures and local carbon reinforcements both in hull and deck. This infusion process has been employed for many years.
Her hull lines are slim and efficient, her proportions balanced yet powerful, while her sailplan ensures responsiveness and control in all conditions. The result is a yacht that feels fast, stable, and instinctive at the helm, delivering confidence whether cruising offshore or pushing performance.
Exterior Design
In line with Swan’s new product development strategy, the design philosophy follows a path of evolution rather than disruption, remaining true to the brand’s elegant identity.
As Antonio Santella, New Product Development Senior Advisor, explains: “From the earliest sketches, the intention with Luca Ardizio was to create exterior lines that reflect the purity of Germán Frers’ hulls, combining elegance and fluidity with a refined balance of form, proportion, and performance.”
Every element on deck has been carefully integrated to ensure clarity, efficiency, and intuitive handling under sail. The layout allows smooth operation even with reduced crew, while twin helms provide full visibility and precise control in all conditions.
Distinctive features include an offset companionway, an asymmetrical cockpit, and seamlessly integrated running rigging, all contributing to a deck layout that ensures fluid and intuitive movement.
The interior layout is highly versatile, with an aft galley and crew area to port, and configurations available in three or four guest cabins. Forward, flexible arrangements allow for either an expanded owner’s bathroom or a walk-in wardrobe, ensuring privacy, comfort, and acoustic separation from technical spaces.
A hallmark of the Swan range, the generous deck is divided into four distinct living areas. The foredeck offers a private sunbathing lounge, optionally shaded by an elegant Arabian-style tent, with the possibility of accommodating a large tender.
At the heart of the concept lies the guest cockpit—an inviting, sheltered space that seamlessly connects interior and exterior living. A unique feature within the Swan range is the optional rigid roof, transforming the area into a panoramic veranda or, when required, a fully enclosed and climate-controlled environment: a refined nautical ‘winter garden’, perfectly integrated into the yacht’s timeless profile.
Further aft, the sailing cockpit is dedicated to performance, with twin helms, winches, and control systems carefully arranged for effortless short-handed sailing. At the stern, the beach club area features a swimming platform, extendable on request, and a spacious lazarette capable of accommodating a 2.80-metre rigid-keel RIB and additional equipment.
Interiors
For the Swan 73, Blend Studio has developed an interior concept rooted in a refined reinterpretation of the brand’s design language.
As founder Cecilia Perotti notes: “The project draws from the heritage of Swan yachts, reimagined through a contemporary lens. The result is a space defined by soft transitions, curved geometries, and a harmonious flow.”
Alongside the signature Swan décor options—Spirit of Finland, Timeless Classic, Traditional Navy, and Wine Cowes—a bespoke configuration has been introduced to create an even warmer and more inviting atmosphere. The use of Canaletto walnut lends depth and richness, while light-toned fabrics, wall finishes, and surfaces enhance brightness and tactile comfort.
The result is an interior environment that is both elegant and enveloping, where tradition meets contemporary sensibility through meticulous attention to materials, detail, and identity.
The latest in a series of product announcements celebrating Swan’s 60thanniversary in 2026, Swan 73 is scheduled to touch the water in 2027.
