You have just started the 2024 One Design season with the Swan Tuscany Challenge. Which were the expectations before stepping onboard ClubSwan 50 Vitamina Sailing?

As we embarked on the 2024 One Design season with the Swan Tuscany Challenge and prepared to step onboard ClubSwan 50 Vitamina Sailing, our expectations were cautiously optimistic yet tempered. With nearly half of the crew being new additions, we felt unsure regarding our performance. However, any reservations quickly dissipated as the team exhibited remarkable cohesion and reliability from the outset. While we recognized the need for more experience and time spent on the water to improve our skills, the collective adaptability and determination propelled us forward. The learning curve proved to be surprisingly rapid, facilitated by the supportive and encouraging atmosphere that permeated the yacht. Overall, while the initial expectations might not have been lofty, the team’s resilience and camaraderie instilled confidence and laid a promising foundation for the challenges ahead in the One Design season.

Looking back on the event, what aspects of your sailing strategy or preparation do you feel were particularly successful, and are there any areas you’re looking to improve upon for future competitions?

Reflecting on the event, our sailing strategy and preparation showcased several noteworthy successes, particularly our decision to assemble an all-Italian crew comprised predominantly of seasoned members with a rich history within the team.

Furthermore, our emphasis on teamwork as the cornerstone of our approach proved to be particularly effective. Each member brought their unique skills and expertise to the table, seamlessly complementing one another and allowing us to navigate challenges with agility and precision. This collective effort not only propelled us towards our goals but also fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose among the crew.

As we look ahead to future competitions, there are certainly areas where we aim to further refine and improve our performance. While our reliance on teamwork proved fruitful, there is always room for enhancement in communication and coordination, especially during high-pressure moments on the racecourse. Additionally, we recognize the importance of continuously honing our individual skills and becoming experts with our equipment to maintain a competitive edge.
