May 24th to 26th, 2019 – Villa a Sesta, Bucine (ITA)

Nautor’s Swan promotes women in sports – especially those in male-oriented disciplines. We are therefore delighted to announce our sponsorship of the Nautor’s Swan Polo Team - made up of four European players, winners of the 2017 Polo European Championship.
In Arezzo, the team included Eva Bruhl (48 years-old, of which 28 years playing polo), European No 1 ladies Polo Player.
Four teams competed and the Nautor’s Swan Polo Team gained 2nd place.
Ginevra Visconti Bassetti, the team forward, comments “In the last 10 years the female participation in polo game has been growing in a stunning way; in Argentina there are more than 600 lady players and both in US and Italy the increase is consistent. The lady teams become even more competitive and there are players who have a 10 points handicap, like Hazel Jakson, who will join Nautor’s Swan Polo Team during the Womens International in St. Tropez (June 26tth to 30th)”.

It was Portuguese Star ace Afonso Domingos who helped guide Pit Finnis’ ClubSwan 42 Dralion to success. “It was not easy racing in a mixed fleet ORC class as some boats are higher and faster than you. The team sailed well and the conditions were great, it has been a great regatta,” said Domingos.

Trofeo de Vela CaixaBank Conde de Godò
May 23rd to 26th, 2019 – Barcelona (SPA)

3 Swans enrolled in ORC 0 and ORC 1 Classes: ClubSwan 42 BLUE, Swan 45 BRUJO, Swan 45 RATS ON FIRE.
The first Conde de Godó Trophy, promoted in 1974 by Carlos Godó, second Count of Godó and then president of the RCNB, was contested in the Dragon class, and that is why it is so emotive to have them back.
Rafael Carbonell's Rats on Fire was undoubtedly the big favorite (this Swan 45 has accumulated nine Conde de Godó trophies, the last six in a row) and confirmed her supremacy: in this edition first place went to Rats on Fire! Congratulations! The team also receive the ClubSwan prize for the best-placed Swan.

CLUBSWAN MEMBERS EXPERIENCE

Swan 40-129 Olivia’s Refit

Now Olivia has a new owner. I found her in May 2018 at Palma de Mallorca boat show. I bought her in July and many things needed to be done. Olivia always stayed in El Arenal, in the bay of Palma, and after buying her, she stayed from July till the end of September there. In September I finished my job and the adventure started.
1st of October 2018 Olivia welcomed me on board.
5th of October 2018 the shipyard season starts at Club Náutico El Arenal.
First of all the ironworks where removed and then Baleos Yacht Carpentry came in to remove and replace the teak. They did an awesome job.
Next the stern was filled and faired with epoxy filler to repair the dings and scratches and then re-painted. The hull was then polished and the mast and the boom painted. However when we removed it, we realized that some parts of the rigging were on their last legs and we also changed them, including the diagonals and the forestay.
All the electronics are also brand new and we added a radar, an inverter, solar panels and water maker. This inventory was the key to getting the boat ready to go anywhere.
At the end of the day mostly everything that needed to be replaced has been replaced (all new screws, new sails, new ropes, modified bimini, blocks...)
It took 6 months all in all to bring her back to best condition.
Olivia is my dream boat, but I still need to earn a living to enjoy her. That’s where the idea “TARTARUGA SAIL AND DIVE” came from - a diving centre on a sailboat. This unique business idea will be the way I can follow my dream - sail around the world and teach diving on the way.
So.... let’s dive into the best life possible!

Aon INSIGHT - A focus on Pollution

Sustainability is a topic involving everyone and Aon this month is focusing on Pollution, and how it can be considered a damage.
Looking at the big picture, the environmental damage has consequences and the causes must be refunded with the costs of reinstatement.
Some liability insurances cover Environmental damage and now it is becoming very important to make sure to be insured for it. In fact, as a matter of fact, in some countries, like Greece, yacht owners are required to be covered for it over and above their standard policy provisions. It is very important to make sure your policies are extended to the coverage of the Environmental risk.
In the forthcoming months, we will focus on a series of topics related to the marine insurance field that may directly interest you and, at the same time, stimulate your curiosity.
For any further clarification, please contact us at the following email: paolo.mascino@aon.it
