The 7th hull of Swan 65 leaving our paint shed with a very special hull colour meticulously created by Nautor’s state-of-the-art spray painting facility. She is getting ready for early launch being one of the first boats to hit the water in the spring.
She is scheduled for hand over and sail away late May.

On that occasion, the Marina di Scarlino will host the second edition of THE SWAN EXPERIENCE (22-30 May) where the new Swan Line will be on display. The second event already confirmed is the SWAN SARDINIA CHALLENGE, from June 22nd to 26th, which will take place in the beautiful setting of Porto Cervo.
We are looking forward to hearing that COPA DEL REY, THE NATIONS TROPHY and SWAN OD WORLDS will have the same destiny. We cannot wait to see you at the starting line in Scarlino, where THE NATIONS LEAGUE kicks off, with a gorgeous event.”

The C&N Gosport Archive features more than 3,500 vessels, from the first yachts built in the 1820’s until today, with more than 10,000 drawings, 1,300 photographs and films, and 1,500 documents, from magazine articles and extracts to company brochures. Compiled over decades by the late Jeremy Lines, and recently consolidated into a single database, the Archive is now available to the public at cnyachting.com.

The story starts in 2006 when I decided to develop a new and unique race boat with a simple brief: high-advanced-composite-ULDP-cruiser-racer around 50 feet with dual purpose – winning races against IRC-modified TP52 and gentle cruising with a small family crew (push-button-driven comfort). It should be my boat No. 10, the second custom-build 50 feet after the BRENTA 55 “Imagine”.
To start this ambitious development I invited two people to the BOOT show in January 2007 in Düsseldorf – my sailing friend and Project Manager John Alexander, Melbourne AUS and the IRC-world dominating Naval Architect Jason Ker from Southampton, GBR.
We have discussed the new project during two long, intensive days and my tolerant wife had to manage some nice surroundings and some brain refreshment during the evening. That was the reason why we came to visit the wonderful show of CIRQUE DE SOLEIL with their production called DRALION. DRALION was the name-giving fabulous creature of this show, half DRAgon and half LION and it symbolised both worlds, the mystical adventures of Asia and the powerful dominance of the Western hemisphere. All of us felt concordantly at the end of the show that we had found, by the way, the perfect name for the new project… created from an international group of sailing enthusiasts, build for the western Mediterranean and manufactured in Dubai – the entrance to Asia.
When the boat, a KER 53 cruiser-racer, was launched in March 2010 in the Americas Cup loft of ALINGHI in Valencia, the former project name was proudly given by my daughter Caterina to the vessel and the story of a fabulous creature, half Dragon and half Lion took place around the races courses in the Med. Winning big events like Giraglia, Rolex Middle Sea Race, Les Voiles de St Tropez and many more in its IRC Class – the birth of a rocketship with race crew onboard and a docile kitty when driven shorthanded.
Since these days, also my boat No. 11, a J70 and No. 12, the real beauty - ClubSwan 42-51 (my first secondhand yacht!) follow as DRALION in the same spirit of sail-racing, great fun and respect for the sea.

Nautor’s Swan Customer Care France shipyard was established in Villefranche in 1995 and was the first ever shipyard owned by Nautor.
Villefranche-sur-Mer is a unique location in the heart of the French Riviera renowned for the beauty of its bay and village. The historical village of Villefranche was built in the middle ages with its castle and narrow streets making it a colourful typical Mediterranean seaside village. The place has always been fabled by sailors since antiquity and Romans used to anchor their galleys in the bay and use the site of “La Darse” to service their ships. Later on, in the middle of the 17th century the site was developed for commerce and for servicing war ships with all possible facilities including a rope factory, a drydock, a hospital, accommodations for sailors and everything that seamen would need. Today some of these large installations are still visible in the “La Darse” harbour, such as the drydock which is still in use surrounded by thick defence walls. Yes, indeed Villefranche has an old tradition for boat services and Nautor found the perfect shelter in the middle of the Riviera to settle, close to Nice airport and Monaco, only one night of sailing away to Corsica.
Over these 25 years dedicated to service and helping Swan owners, Nautor Villefranche has assisted around 800 Swans and therefore acquired an unrivalled knowledge of these yachts and their specificities. We commission new yachts, perform warranty works under the supervision of Nautor Finland, survey and prepare used yachts before and after sale, service, modify and renew all other Swan yachts. Our technicians have been working with us for many years and are trained in a large range of skills including electricity and electronics - lamination and gelcoat - deck hardware service and installation - plumbing - air conditioning - watermakers - painting & polishing - carpentry - mechanics – rigging Moreover, Nautor Villefranche is the French sales office of the company.
