This year the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup celebrated its 30th edition. In fact, in 1980 the YCCS and ICAYA, the association for Maxi yachts which is now known as the International Maxi Association (IMA), decided to organise an event specifically for these unique and exclusive types of yachts. The regatta was initially held every two years, but since 2000 the "Maxis" has become an annual event.
This edition saw the participation of over 53 yachts coming from 17 countries. Among them, 8 Swan yachts were enrolled in this iconic regatta.
The Mini Maxi Racer Cruiser division was won by Stephen Cucchiaro's Swan 601 FLOW, claiming the Swan Maxi Trophy! LUNZ AM MEER, Swan 651, owned by Marietta Strasoldo, took second place in the Mini Maxi Cruiser Racer division, while Anthony Ball's Swan 65 SIX JAGUAR claimed third place. Swan 90 NEFERTITI, owned by Juan Ball, finished first place in the Maxi Racer Cruiser Division.
The ClubSwan 36 was in Porto Cervo as well on display for participating crews to admire and take for sea trials. Nautor’s Swan had also the pleasure to have Paul Cayard at the helm of ClubSwan 36.

CLUBSWAN MEMBERS EXPERIENCE
Swan 59 IceBear among Canadian icebergs
After sailing ISBJORN, our S&S Swan 48, to Svalbard in the high Arctic in 2018, we aimed to get back to cooler climates this summer, but a bit closer to home. With the addition of ICEBEAR, our 1991 Frers Swan 59 to our fleet, we sailed both boats north from Annapolis in June, ISBJORN heading on a short hop to Newport, RI, while Mia & I were bound for Nova Scotia & Newfoundland.
After calling at Lunenburg, we made landfall on the south coast of Newfoundland and worked into the five-mile-long fjord at Hare Bay, where we rode out a gale before continuing east and north.
That early in the summer, there were still lots of icebergs on the passage to St. John’s, which made for exciting (and at times stressful) sailing, but offered us beautiful encounters with the ice. Both boats returned to Annapolis, MD to finish off our summer 2019 season. ISBJORN & ICEBEAR will sail south to the Eastern Caribbean in company in November.
