NEWS FROM THE YARD
Swan 58 demoulded
The Swan 58 first hull is finally out of the mould! Note the transparent gelcoat used on the first hull both for bottom and topsides: the resultant color is still very suggestive.
The first unit of this new bluewater yacht will be exhibited at the next Boot Duesseldorf, in January 2021.

Swan European Regatta postponed to 2021
In the light of the outbreak of Covid-19 affecting the whole planet, Nautor and the Turku Yacht Club have decided to postpone this event to Summer 2021.This decision was not reached with a light heart as there were more than 100 yachts expected and 31 already registered.
Giovanni Pomati, Nautor Holding CEO, says “Returning to Turku after 4 years, breathing the essence of the passion and love our owners have for our brand, was something we were all looking forward to. Unfortunately considering the current uncertain situation worldwide, the general mood and our aim not to jeopardize our guests’ health and safety, led us to this important decision”.
Samuli Salantera, Commodore Yacht Club Turku, strengthens the decision commenting “Turku has always been the house for Swans in the Baltic and we feel the need to host this event in the best condition ever, and this is not the right time. We surely will celebrate our Spirit of Swan like it deserves next year”.

CLUBSWAN MEMBERS EXPERIENCE
Swan 55 "Galiana" from Southampton to Helsinki last October
In October 2019 Swan 55 Galiana was sailed to her new homeport in Helsinki, Finland from Southampton UK, skippered by legendary sailor Tapio Lehtinen who earlier the same year had completed the Golden Globe Race. In Finland Galiana will undergo some refitting and a lot of sailing in preparation for the 2023 Ocean Globe Race and plenty of adventures before that.
There weren’t many other yachts to be seen anywhere in the English Channel or the Baltic Sea this time of year, even though the conditions were perfect for some memorable sailing. With mostly steady winds, an autumn storm caught up with us just off the coast of Gotland, tearing our mainsail to pieces. Luckily we had plenty of sails onboard and were able to continue the voyage safely. Despite not being the most modern downwind machine, Galiana clocked a decent boat speed of 15knts surfing down a wave, leaving both skipper and crew smiling.
Having participated in the Whitbread Round The World Race in 1981, Lehtinen’s vision is to enter the OGR with a boat that is fit for the fight and a young crew eager to take on the challenge. The 1973 Swan 55 perfectly matches the requirements of the race which is organised under the original Whitbread rules.

AON CORNER Insurance cover during the COVID-19 period
These days Owners, facing doubts about the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis on the future of their work and businesses, are also wondering what the possibility of being able to use their boat will be.
Many also wonder with their forced reduced use of the boat, whether this could result in savings on the "Hull and Machinery" cover.
In reality, the risk that your boat may suffer damage during the period of being berthed long-tern, without the possibility of the Owner being able to visit and check on the boat, is actually higher than when under normal navigation.
The situation is different for boats that have a professional crew onboard. Insurers are considering the possibility of lowering the cost of insurance for them.
For Owners and permanent Crews of those yachts it is advisable to also consider an environmental sanitization intervention, before returning onboard, made by specialized Companies.
In any case, during this difficult period, we at AON offer support to review the conditions of your policy to check if it is completely adequate for your plans and use of the boat.
For any further clarification, please contact us at the following email: paolo.mascino@aon.it

AUTHORISED SERVICE CENTER
Nautor Villefranche
Nautor’s Swan Customer Care France shipyard was established in Villefranche in 1995 and was the first ever shipyard owned by Nautor.
Villefranche-sur-Mer is a unique location in the heart of the French Riviera renowned for the beauty of its bay and village. The historical village of Villefranche was built in the middle ages with its castle and narrow streets making it a colourful typical Mediterranean seaside village.
The place has always been fabled by sailors since antiquity and Romans used to anchor their galleys in the bay and use the site of “La Darse” to service their ships. Later on, in the middle of the 17th century the site was developed for commerce and for servicing war ships with all possible facilities including a rope factory, a drydock, a hospital, accommodations for sailors and everything that seamen would need.
Today some of these large installations are still visible in the “La Darse” harbour, such as the drydock which is still in use surrounded by thick defence walls. Yes, indeed Villefranche has an old tradition for boat services and Nautor found the perfect shelter in the middle of the Riviera to settle, close to Nice airport and Monaco, only one night of sailing away to Corsica.
Over these 25 years dedicated to service and helping Swan owners, Nautor Villefranche has assisted around 800 Swans and therefore acquired an unrivalled knowledge of these yachts and their specificities.
We commission new yachts, perform warranty works under the supervision of Nautor Finland, survey and prepare used yachts before and after sale, service, modify and renew all other Swan yachts.
Our technicians have been working with us for many years and are trained in a large range of skills including electricity and electronics - lamination and gelcoat - deck hardware service and installation - plumbing - air conditioning - watermakers - painting & polishing - carpentry - mechanics – rigging
