The recently commissioned high-tech Spray Booth – the most advanced in our industry sector - has welcomed the first hull of the new Swan 65. The Painting Booth measures 40m x 12m x 8m, provides computer-controlled air circulation up to 448k m3/h and digital humidity control. Moreover, Nautor’s Swan new Curing oven is 40mx12m. The Maxi Swan customer team at Nautor also managed to sell the first new Swan 120 in less than 4 months after it’s world-première at the Monaco Yacht Show in September last year. The deck of the new ClubSwan 36 presents sharp edges and modern design for a new step into the yachting evolution.

On the 2nd of February in London at the Mortimer House private club the first Swan Classic by Frers dinner, organized by Maxi owners took place.
Special guests were Andrew McIrvine (Secretary General of the International Maxi Association -IMA-) and Juan Kouyoumdjian (a.k.a. "Juan K.” the designer of several IMOCAS and of the ClubSwan 36, ClubSwan 50 and ClubSwan 125).
11 shipowners attended. There was wide agreement that classic boats need to race together, something that the IMA full heartedly supports.
Marietta Strasoldo, the chairwoman of the Swan Classic by Frers Association, made a short speech stressing that it is important to work on an objective, open and inclusive definition of modern classic sailing boats.

On March 2^nd our Finnish Friends of the HSS organized the Classic Yacht Symposium in Helsinki. Participants had the chance to listen to some knowledgeable people, e.g. Donald Tofias and John Lemmerts van Bueren, probably one of the best connoisseur on classic meter boats.
Lars Strom and Matteo Salamon were at the Symposium on behalf the S&S Swan Association, and talked to a very crowded audience of passionate classic sailors (specifically gathered in Finland from all over Europe and USA) about the “brain” behind classic S&S designed Swan, namely Rod Stephens, and the hectic activity of the S&S Swan Association, which is today 19 years old, and have 604 Members worldwide (824 S&S built Swan). They finally introduced the forthcoming new book written by Juan E. Corradi, the first one where the Guest Star is a Swan: S&S Swan 38/019 Pirate.

Spring weather conditions and light winds were the perfect ingredients for a great weekend of sailing.
On Friday the four attending ClubSwan 50s all enjoyed an organised training session, with the support of drone clips, Trac Trac tracking devices and performance analysis, while on Saturday and Sunday it was the turn for racing.
Following a hard-fought 5 race series, the Scarlino Winter Series ACT I goes to Leonardo Ferragamo’s Cuordileone, followed by Andrea Masi’s Ulika and Stella Maris (August Schram).
ACT II will follow the same format to be held in one month’s time, to define the Scarlino Winter Series overall winner.

The South Pacific’s premier superyacht regatta took place in the Bay Of Islands, January 30th to February 2nd. Our heartiest congratulation to Freya’s owner and team, who crossed the finish line with a beautiful second place.

The Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Caribbean 600 is one of the great ‘600 mile’ ocean race challenges and definitely every serious offshore sailors’ favourite. The 11th edition saw 7 Swan Yachts in the water circumnavigating the 11 Caribbean Islands. Our deepest congratulations go to Gibb Kane’s Swan 66 Bounty, skippered by Peter Todd, first in IRC1 and winner of the Swan Caribbean Challenge Trophy.

Three Swan Maxis (Swans 80 Selene and Umiko plus Swan 100 Varsovie) and Swan 48 Avocation competed respectively in the last Sint Maarten Heiniken Regatta.
Crystal clear waters and cooling northeast trade winds gave the pristine conditions for spectacular racing just off the coast of St. Maarten.
Great results for them: Selene was first and Varsovie was third in Maxi 1 Class and Avocation was first in Island Time class. Congratulations!

Del & Gill Fairley, proud owners of Swan 36-021 Icon tell us of their efforts for making their yacht shine again. The yacht has now been re-launched and the work has mainly been cleaning and stripping out the demaged interior, wiring, engine, etc. “The 21st boat built by Nautor was an S&S Swan 36 named Lofna, launched in 1967. She retained this name until 1996, when she was sold and renamed Icon. In 2011, she was again sold and renamed Seamróige, after the lucky Irish shamrock. Unfortunately in the years that followed, her luck failed. We found her in late 2018 abandoned in a boatyard, and in a very sad state, filled with filthy water, and her engine, electrics and much else destroyed. We chose to revert to the name she had in happier times, Icon, as we embark on a complete refit to return her to a standard worthy of her Nautor's Swan heritage.”
