CLUBSWAN MEMBERS EXPERIENCE

Swan 461 Free at Transpac Race

The 50th Transpac was a special race for Swan 461 Free and her owner, Christian Doegl. She not only won second in her division but on the return to San Francisco completed her 10,000th mile in the past 15 months. While one third of the crew sailed last year's Pac Cup aboard Free, it was the first Transpac for all members aboard. Sailing into the tradewinds with the spinnaker glowing white in the full moon and new speed records at sunset will be as memorable to all as the days of pre-dawn sail repair with mezcal in hand and the final death of the A4 by rigging knife in the Molokai channel. A salty crew wants to know, when are we going sailing next?

AON CORNER

This month we would like to write some words regarding the procedure to follow in case of claim in order to reach an easy and fast settlement.
First of all we recommend you to checking if there are any variationS to communicate to your Insurance Company like, for instance, change to the sum insured, any new equipments / accessories, sails tenders, etc… and to send (in case you have not already done) a copy of your circulations book, your license and a photo of your yacht plus others pictures of your external equipment (in case of theft).
In case of claim we strongly recommend to contacting immediately your Broker (or Insurance Company) and provide the following information:

  • yacht information, owner and eventual captain or skipper IDs;
  • time and place of the accident;
  • facts and cause of the claim;
  • damages suffered with a short description of them;
  • the place where the yacht is docked and the contact details for an expert visit.

In case of serious damage, it is mandatory to inform the Port Authority about the event; this can be essential in order to receive the settlement from the Insurance Company. In these situations a trusted and skilled advisor may play a crucial role.  Thank you for the time spent and fair winds.
