SWAN 56'S WIN SWAN EAST AMERICAN CHALLENGE

Clover III and Noonmark both Swan 56 yachts sailed into winning positions in their respective classes within the Newport – Bermuda Race this year to win the Swan East American Challenge 2010. The Swan East American Challenge is one of six Challenge events held by Nautor’s Swan across the globe.

Swan 56 Noonmark VI, owned by Sir Geoffrey Mulcahy celebrated their win in the 13 yacht Gibbs Hill Division after dawn on Tuesday (22-06-10) in the marina at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club with a corrected time of 52:48:32. Noonmark VI and her crew of 16 mainly English sailors finished off St. David’s Head, Bermuda at 01:40 AM EDT on Tuesday with a two and a half hour lead over the next yacht, Snow Leopard.
Neal Finnegan won the 39 yacht Cruiser Division onboard Swan 56, Clover III finishing in a corrected time of 72:04:49. Clover III is key feature on the Caribbean and U.S. cruiser/racer circuit having recently competed in Antigua Sailing Week and the Club Swan Caribbean Rendezvous.

Both winners will be presented with the prestigious silver Asprey Swan East American Challenge trophy tonight, 24 June 2010 at the Swan owners cocktail and dinner party in Bermuda. Each owner will be able to keep the trophy for a year each until the next event in 2012.

This year there were 22 of the elegant Swan yachts entered into the Newport – Bermuda Race which made a beautiful sight for spectators on the start line. This event has always been popular with Swan owners and as such is a key feature on the Swan racing/cruising calendar.
