Rolex Swan Cup 2010 is now open for entries

The Rolex Swan Cup 2010 is now open for entries. The 2010 edition of the Rolex Swan Cup & Rolex Swan 45 World Championship is set to take place at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, from September 13th to September 19th.

A biannual event which is a classic rendezvous for all Swan owners around the world, the Rolex Swan Cup transforms the waters of the Sardinian coastline in a challenging and fascinating race.

With a history going back 26 years the Rolex Swan Cup also features glamorous evening events and parties in true Swan spirit.

The Rolex Swan Cup already has a well deserved reputation for being a week of serious competition at a high level, closely fought between enthusiastic crews aboard Swan yachts.

However, there is another side to the event.

The Sardinian waters attract Swan crews who enjoy cruising with a more relaxed style. Swan yachts have the unique ability to perform both racing and cruising roles with outstanding ease, and many yachts will cruise to the event, race for a week, and then continue their cruises.

Whilst the Rolex Swan Cup is a natural magnet for Swan yachts - the 2008 edition brought 108 Swans together – not everyone wants to compete. This year Nautor’s Swan, in recognition to those who choose a more relaxed style of sailing, has launched the ‘Rendezvous at the Rolex Swan Cup’ to cater for cruising Swans. Porto Cervo, the historic base for the Rolex Swan Cup, is perfectly positioned to offer amazing locations within just a few hours of easy sailing. The Rendezvous will take full advantage of these islands, bays and beaches in order to offer great days afloat.

The Rendezvous sailing programme is being developed to focus on fun, friends, family and social sailing. It will also include plenty of opportunities to cheer on the racing fleets on the starting line, before retreating to sheltered anchorages for lunch, barbecues on the beach, and more.

There will be a cruising skippers’ briefing each morning at which the details of the day will be confirmed. The prevailing weather conditions will be taken into account on deciding location and route for the day.

Enter the Rolex Club Swan page on the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda website, www.yccs.it

Rendezvous yachts should enter in the “section 6. Non-Racing Class”.
