New Swan 80

The first hull of the new Swan 80 is now in the assembly at BTC. The deck has been put on and you can already now get a good picture of what she will look like when she will be launched in June. Her modern lines, combined with the DNA of a traditional Swan, create a stunning and fast looking yacht.

The carbon pre- preg sandwich hull construction together with a lightweight interior and weight consciousness in the specification leads to a displacement of only 36 tons without compromising any comfort.

Carpenters are busy at the moment inside the boat finalizing the joinery and the inner ceiling. Our electricians and plumbers are installing all equipment inside now and the inside of the boat is changing dramatically each day.

Interior:
The interior of Swan 80-101 is very modern and light with a white stained teak finish. She is being built with an owner’s cabin aft and this cabin feels very big with one hull window each side. The owner’s cabin has a sofa on starboard side, a double berth on the center line, a desk on port side and a big head with separate shower.

When you enter into the saloon you get a feeling of a bright, clean and open area. Sitting on the sofas, you can look outside through the four hull windows. The natural light in the saloon is also coming from the two big deck hatches, coaming portholes, and from the companionway.

This boat has two guest cabins, with twin beads and, their own heads with separate showers.

Swan 80-101 has a galley forward of the saloon. The boat comes well equipped already as standard and the galley has room for a dish washer, micro, washer/dryer, two refrigerators, one freezer, a four burner gas stove and an electric oven.

Located furthest forward is the crew area with a sofa on port side, beds on starboard side and a head/shower forward.

Different interior lay-out options are available.

Deck:
The Swan 80 has a very clean and spacious deck with two separate cockpits. There is a large forward cockpit providing comfort both under sail and at anchor. The aft cockpit has ample space for relaxing and sunbathing.

The Swan 80 can be sailed short-handed because of the deck layout. Halyard and reef lines are lead aft under deck to the secondary winches. Jib sheets are also lead under deck to the primary winches. The single point mainsheet system is lead to a captive winch mounted under deck as standard, although 80-101 is being constructed with a traditional main sheet above deck winch.

The transom layout for the Swan 80 can be chosen in two versions. Open transom that comes with an aft deck all on one level or a closed transom with a raised aft deck. The transom hatch doubles as a bathing and boarding platform. It is made from carbon fibre pre-preg for maximum stiffness and has a recessed teak surface. The hatch is hydraulically operated.

The lazarette can store a 3.4 m (11 ft) inflatable dinghy and there is a system for dinghy launching with a hydraulic winch.

We look forward to the launch and the first seatrials with this latest generation Swan. For further information of the Swan 80 or any other Swan model, please contact your local Swan agent.
